1:1 'Introduction to Photography' Tuition Walks - Norfolk/London

Now booking for Wednesdays in February and weekends from March to October

Who are 1:1 tuition walks aimed at?

1:1 tuition walks are relaxed sessions, aimed at those who want to learn a new skill and beginners looking to practice photography with some gentle direction and guidance. Perhaps you've recently bought (or have been gifted) a new camera, maybe you've owned a camera for a while and would like to learn how to get more from it. A 1:1 tuition walk will help develop your creative vision and give you the basic knowledge required to create eye catching/immersive images.

1:1 tuition walks are 'hands on' practical sessions, I've always believed that the best way to learn a practical skill is to actually try it rather than sitting in a classroom listening to someone talking (borrrring!). Walks are kept to just 3 hours which will give us enough time to explore some of the basics, my hope is that you'll go home with some great images, a different way of seeing the world and feeling excited about what you've learnt.

Photography is a very therapeutic hobby - learning a new skill, being outside, walking and talking are all great for our mental and physical wellbeing. If you're nervous about booking, please just let me know, I've been there and completely understand.

What will I learn?

We'll talk about composition and the importance of story telling in photography. We'll also look at the different settings on your camera and practice using them to create immersive images. If you've ever wondered where to put an object in the frame, which aperture, shutter speed or ISO settings to use and when to adjust them, a 1:1 tuition walk could be for you.

What type of camera should I bring?

Any camera type is fine from smartphone/compact to Bridge/CSC/DSLR. However, the level of tuition is fully dependent on your camera type and the settings it has within it. For example, while we can create stunning images with smartphones and compact cameras, these cameras will not have the same functions or controls as a DSLR.

What can I expect on a walk day, when and where do they happen?

To begin our walk, we'll meet in a local cafe and talk about what you may or may not already know about photography, I'll then run through some basic camera settings and themes for our session before we head out on our route. You'll be encouraged to capture images that you find appealing but I'll be on hand to offer themes, guidance, encouragement and suggestions for different compositions/camera settings.
